-- where family fuels the story engine.

-- muse, mischief, and the spark behind Dog Bomb Ballet.

In loving memory and honor of Baron, Maya, Cinnamon, Harley, Hannah, and Sophie.
Over more than thirty years of marriage, these six dogs have never simply been pets. They have been our children, our teachers, our therapists, and our daily reminders that joy often arrives with muddy paws, unconditional love...and occasionally a mess to clean up.
This is the true story of how Dog Bomb Ballet™ was born.
(And yes, there are several places named Atlanta in the United States—but this story happened in the real one.)
Sitting beneath the Christmas tree was a long, beautifully wrapped box that could only mean one thing.
I was certain my wife, Helena, had somehow managed to surprise me with what appeared to be a Scotty Cameron Studio Series Newport putter—the kind of putter golfers dream about. The kind you imagine making the winning putt with.
As I opened the package, I complimented Helena on her impeccable gift wrapping. Maybe I oversold it a little, but moments like these deserve enthusiasm.
Every ounce of anticipation built toward finally holding that perfect piece of craftsmanship.
The weight of the box felt exactly right.
The balance felt perfect.
This was going to be glorious.
Until I lifted the lid.
It wasn't a Scotty Cameron.
It was...
A Pooper Scooper!
For one brief moment, I stared in disbelief.
Inside my head, I thought:
"A pooper scooper? Seriously?"
Helena smiled.
"SURPRISE!"
Then she delivered the second part of the gift.
"Now you have something to clean up the poopy backyard."
At this time, we had adopted two wonderful Labrador mixes from the Atlanta Animal Shelter.
Apparently, I had just received my new official “Wife Issued equipment with detailed instructions and nomenclatures
A few days later, there I was.
Headphones on.
Music playing.
Walking the backyard with my brand-new pooper scooper.
Without realizing it, I began moving to the rhythm while cleaning up after the dogs.
Not dancing exactly...
But not not dancing either.
As I looked toward the large bay window overlooking the backyard, I caught my reflection.
A grown man.
Performing what could only be described as ballet...
...while picking up dog poop.
I stopped.
Looked again.
And burst out laughing.
Right then and there, one thought entered my mind.
Dog Bomb Ballet is Life.
That single ridiculous moment became the spark that would eventually grow into an entire intellectual property studio built around original stories, humor, humanity, resilience, and finding extraordinary ideas hiding inside ordinary moments.
Sometimes inspiration arrives in a boardroom.
Sometimes it arrives while cleaning up after your dogs.
The first image that came to mind was simple.
A man ballet dancing across the backyard with a pooper scooper in his hand.
Equal parts dignity...
Equal parts absurdity...
Entirely unforgettable.
The music was inspiring. Chopin, Bach, and of course Beethoven’s various operatic musings.
That image remains the spiritual foundation of Dog Bomb Ballet™.
Dog Bomb Ballet was never really about dogs.
Or ballet.
Or even the pooper scooper.
It was about perspective.
It was about recognizing that life often hands us something completely different from what we expected.
The choice is ours.
Be disappointed...
Or build something unforgettable.
Every book, screenplay, television series, documentary, educational program, and piece of merchandise created under Dog Bomb Ballet™, IP Studio traces back to that single Christmas morning and one ridiculous reflection in a kitchen window.
Great ideas rarely announce themselves.
They simply ask whether you're paying attention.
As I move into the next chapter of building Dog Bomb Ballet™, IP Studio, I've come to understand something else.
There comes a point in every founder's journey when it's time to stop waiting for permission.
It's time to make Big Boy Decisions.
Dog Bomb Ballet™ began with laughter.
Its legacy will be built with purpose.
